Allows multiple teams to co-operate and share resources, and to be able to come together in trust-building and voluntary ways
Can take investment on terms that are in line with long-term value creation for both investors and the people served by the products (for example, as member-owners as well as customers, contributors, and/or non-equity-based investors) and can take on grants or donations
Prevents opportunism by limiting individual extraction and salary differentials, as well as by with strategic licensing, collectively-held IP, and profit re-investment or distribution to common cause
Encourages open-sourcing and interoperability
Fosters an ecosystem beyond just builders and customers, in which experts may offer time as advisors or contributors and be recognised for their participation
Operates with transparency so success can be repeatable and failure learned from
Encourages investment and contribution as a result of more distributed risk and more collective, committed effort than a single-team/product company with mercenary staffing
Can be repeatable for other collectives to model
